This course provides an overview of the various tools attackers can use to digitally footprint an organisation - a common first step in cyber-attacks. It also covers mitigation strategies organisations can use to reduce cybersecurity risks and to recover from incidents.

OBJECTIVES
This course provides an overview of the various risks, threats and vulnerabilities prevalent in organizations. The various measures to overcome those risks and threats to prevent cybercrimes are also covered in the course. Various security issues and concepts like web security, authentication and digital forensics are covered in detail. An understanding of the various tools and strategies to secure infrastructure and software are also covered. Students will also be introduced to incident analysis and response with scenarios and case studies.

This class is delivered by Cyber Toa - Security Specialists.

PREREQUISITES

The Cyber-Reconnaissance and Recovery Fundamentals course is aimed at IT, network or cyber-security professionals with (or seeking) job roles such as IT Security Analysts, Digital Forensics Specialists or Security Architects.

  • Know basic network terminology and functions (such as OSI Model, Network Topology, ports etc).
  • Understand server-client interactions, VPNs and basic encryption.
  • Understand the basics of modern web technologies
  • Preferably have some experience with Linux and/or command line tools.
WHAT YOU’LL LEARN

On course completion, you will be able to:

  • Explain common cybercrimes in detail.
  • Quantitatively assess the strength of passwords and password hashes.
  • Understand and use basic web security assessment tools.
  • Use a variety of digital forensics tools.
  • Perform a digitalfootprint exercise on a target organization or person
  • Create an appropriate response plan for wide variety of cybersecurity incidents.
